Humber Recreation

Students geared up in front of rockclimbing wall

Humber Recreation is raising awareness for their services this upcoming school term. They offer three different services to students, Extramurals, Intramurals, and Special Events, for all students looking to be active and engage socially on campus.

Extramurals have a focus on having fun at a competitive level while socializing with your peers.

Team programs include; Co-Rec Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball, Indoor Soccer and Volleyball, Women's Basketball and Hockey, and Men's Basketball, Indoor Cricket, and Hockey. Open tryouts begin September 5th and run until October 1st.

Intramurals give students the opportunity learn and play various sports regardless of their skill level. There are scheduled programs in the daytime, evening and weekends with leagues, tournaments challenges, skills and drills clinics and staff stars running throughout the year. Registration by team or individuals is required.

Special Events are designed to encourage camaraderie and participation amongst students while getting out there and trying new things. Adventure programs run as full-day or full evening events that are non-competitive in nature while enjoying a non-traditional atmosphere with a focus on fun, learning new skills, meeting people and enjoying the spirit of recreation. Past programs include Indoor Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Trampoline Games, Horseback Riding & Yoga, Battle Archery, Beach Volleyball, and Treetop Trekking. Participants are required to pay a fee to participate and fees vary by activity.

Adaptive programs are also run that are short-term events that are adaptive and inclusive in their nature, designed to encourage those with varying abilities to participate, learn new skills, meet new people, enjoy the spirit of recreation and to have fun. Experienced instructors facilitate the programs and equipment rentals. Some programs include seated volleyball, goalball, audible soccer, sledge hockey, and wheelchair basketball.
