It was just two years ago in 2015 that Alessia Cara, an 18 year-old singer from Brampton, Ontario, got her big break signing a record deal with EP Entertainment. After years of posting music covers on YouTube, the singer would use her newly-signed record deal to release the sleeper-hit, “Here,” and debut album, Know-It-All.
Fast forward to May 2017 where her album has been certified platinum by the RIAA. It comes as no surprise that the record has achieved monstrous success. Following its first single, the album spawned additional chart-topping songs such as, “Scars to Your Beautiful” and “Wild Things.”
With a promising career ahead of her, Alessia has been keeping busy on all fronts in 2017. Her new collaboration with German DJ, Zedd, is already skyrocketing up the charts and taking over radio airwaves. She also has concerts scheduled throughout the summer, featuring two stops in Ontario; at Caesars Windsor and Rock the Park Music Festival. Click here for tickets and information.
For those who won’t be able to see Alessia at her shows, not to worry. She will be hosting the iHeartRadio MMVA’s this year alongside Joe Jonas. The award ceremony is set to air Sunday, June 18 at 9E/6P on MUCH.
In a short amount of time, Alessia has become a prominent name in the music community and is a prime example of the incredible talent that exists in Canada. Her accomplishments in the past two years prove that she is the true definition of the Canadian come up. Congratulations, Alessia!
