Summer’s coming! Music festivals are announcing their line-ups and it’s time to see what’s happening around Toronto.

Canadian Music Week - April 18-22

Over 40 music venues across downtown Toronto are filled with artists like Wolf Parade, Hollerado, and Charlotte Day Wilson to create a week filled with amazing Canadian music. The event has over 800 artists that span over five nights of performances. There is no shortage of live performances to take advantage of to add to your fun filled summer.

Electric Island - July 1, August 4, September 1

People come together at Hanlan’s Point (Toronto Island) for a crowd-fueled day of electronic music. Plus, don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes and a blanket so you can enjoy this picnic style venue. The event spans over different weekends in the summer so pick which weekend works for you and check it out!

Hillside Festival - July 14 – 16

Every year thousands of people join in on new music, aboriginal drumming, interactive learning and tonnes of amazing food options that this festival brings. It’s held near Guelph on a little island where you have the option to camp out and enjoy more than one day of festivities. They also focus on being environmentally friendly, so the entire event has minimal waste and they use renewable energy resources for power.

Edgefest - July 23, July 29, August 15

This annual rock concert festival was started by 102.1 The Edge and is used to celebrate Canadian rock music. If you enjoy rocking out and high energy events, this is the one for you. It’s a three day concert series held at TD Echo Beach at the Molson Amphitheatre and in past years, bands like USS, Monster Truck, and Our Lady Peace have joined in.

Wayhome - July 28 – 30

Held at Burl’s Creek, Wayhome is about bringing together music, food, art and film. It’s “a place for people who love one or all of those things to come together to make a kaleidoscope of sound, smell, colour and spectacle.” The lineup for this year was just announced and our very own Canadian Teagan and Sara are one of the headliners this year!

OVO - August 1 - 3

The festival is hosted by OVO Sound, the Canadian record label founded by Drake and producer Noah ‘40’ Shebib, and is used to showcase rap and the talent in the genre. The festival always features Drake himself as well as an all-star line-up that has included Jay-Z and Eminem. Tickets sell out fast, so think fast about joining in on the event!

VELD   August 5 – 6

Returning for its 6th year, Downsview park will lit up with the sound of amazing electronic artists what’s known as Canada’s largest electronic festival. Their lineup has not been announced yet, but each year it does not disappoint. If electronic music is what you’re into, this is the place to be this summer.

Boots and Hearts - August 10 – 13

Their motto is “Work Hard. Play Harder.” which this festival embodies every year. It is the largest country music festival in Canada where you can also camp out for the weekend. The lineup this year includes Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and Brantley Gilbert! Join in on the celebration and don’t forget your cowboy boots.
