Our April 2014 Band of the Month is indie-pop group, The Turks, now known as The Implications from Toronto. The band was formed in 2007 and consists of four members: Julian Muia, Daniel Konikoff, Ryan Levine and Mitchell Stuart. The band, whose name was chosen when the members were aged 13, changed their name in July 2015. The Implications are currently unsigned and play locally for audiences. Folk-rock band, Blue Sky Miners was our Band of the Month for March 2014 and first surfaced in 2013 with the release of their EP, Shot in The Dark. During the fall of that year, the band toured the West Coast of Canada and the U.S. The band continues to have shows all over Canada, especially in Toronto, and are currently working on their second EP.

With performances across Europe, Brazil, Panama and North America, we’re more than excited to have our February 2014 Band of the Month, The Boom Booms, an indie-soul group from Vancouver, British Columbia. The Boom Booms consists of Aaron Ross, Sean Ross, Tom Van Deursen, Geordie Hart, Richard Brinkman and Theo Vincent. The band released their first album, Butterfly Man, in 2008, and their song, “When the Night” hit number six on the Much More Music chart and was in an episode of 90210. Their second album, ¡Hot Rum! was released in 2011 in which they used to win second place in The Peak Performance Project, along with $75,000. The band continues to climb in popularity, having a song they are featured in used as a feature song for a Beats by Dr. Dre commercial starring Kevin Garnet. Highs is a Toronto pop band that hit the music scene in late 2012 and was our Band of the Month for January 2014. Since then the band has grown much popularity and has seen many changes. What was once a band of three is now a band of five. What was once a little demo with three songs is now a smashing debut EP with five tracks; this debut was released in 2013. After much performances and growth, the band currently has plans to tour Vancouver, Ontario and Quebec throughout the rest of 2015.

Touring across Canada, the United States and Mexico, 96.9 Radio Humber’s November 2013 Band of the Month is The Glorious Sons, a rock group from Kingston, Ontario. The band burst out into the scene in 2013 with the release of their first album, Shapeless Art. The Glorious Sons continue to add more to their bag of accomplishments in 2015 with the release of their new album, The Union, and with their song “Heavy” being used as the theme song for the WWE Battleground pay-per-view event. From a band that started as a duet to a five man crew with an album to be released in late 2015. Wild Son was our Band of the Month for October 2014 and first surfaced in 2013 with the release of their 4 track EP. Since then, the band has taken multiple steps in the right direction to ensure their success. They recently welcomed fifth member, Eric Disero, and spent time together (they live together) writing music and improving their musical talent.
Named after a coastline in Darwin, Australia, our Band of the Month for September 2015 Mindil Beach Markets, now known as Mindil Beach is rock group from Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. Formed in 2008, this independent record label group has released two albums, Mindil Beach Markets in 2010, and It Might Take Too Long in 2013. The band released “The Sweet Tea EP” in the spring of 2015 which consisted of four tracks. Mindil Beach hopes to tour overseas and show the world what Canadian rock is all about.
